I tried various sports/activities while young, but I found martial arts at the age of 8 and have continued since to this day. I started in the traditional Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do and trained that for about 14 years consecutively, and have since trained in boxing, kickboxing, muay Thai, judo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and krav maga. I have professionally instructed in most of those forms of martial arts as well, from 1 on 1 session to groups of over 200. I competed in the 2020 CrossFit Open, and look forward to doing better every year after.
My biggest motivation for training is that I am innately a very relaxed, and potentially lazy person. I fear becoming complacent in my life, whether it be personal health, fitness, etc, or professional aspirations. I can relax and "veg out" with the best of them when left to my own devices, which in the past has led me to lose opportunities or regress in a form of fitness. I have learned since to always stay focused on goals, no matter how small they seem, to keep myself on the path of always pushing forward.
The rush of excitement of accomplishing a goal or task has been giving you a lot of trouble. I personally feel that exact feeling, after watching or helping someone else crush their own goals. I enjoy taking a potentially difficult or complicated concept or technique and being able to break it down and make it easily understood or executed. I love being surrounded by fun and motivated groups of people, cheering each other on and supporting one another however they can.
